Glass fiber reinforced Sumikasuper SCG LCPs targeted as replacement for alloys of aluminum, magnesium, and steel

Sumitomo Chemical Advanced Technologies has developed a new range of long-fiber thermoplastic (LFT) compounds with high-performance liquid crystal polymer (LCP) matrices reinforced with 13 mm chopped carbon fiber or fiberglass are intended to replace steel, magnesium, and aluminum alloys, Plastics Technology reported on 21 July.
