Sumitomo Chemical, Newlight Technologies to jointly develop eco-friendly materials for vehicles

The companies aim to develop materials for bumpers and interiors with equivalent quality and lower environmental impact compared with conventional PP compounds

Sumitomo Chemical has announced via press release on 31 May that it partnered with US-based Newlight Technologies, Inc. to develop polypropylene (PP) compounds for automotive interiors and bumper applications using carbon neutral biomaterial obtained by microorganisms from methane called AirCarbon.
