Japan’s Proterial develops new EV motor to cut down usage of rare-earth magnets
Proterial does not plan to mass-produce its own motors, but only to sell ferrite magnets and other materials to motor manufacturers
Japan-based producer of high-grade metal products Proterial has developed a prototype motor for electric vehicles that uses magnets that do not contain the rare-earth metal neodymium, according to a news report published by Nikkei Asia on July 24.
