VW Toolmaking opens advanced 3D printing center Germany
New center will use VW’s next-generation 3D printers in collaboration with HP and GKN Sinter Metallurgies
Volkswagen (VW) Toolmaking, the toolmaking unit of the VW brand, has established an advanced three-dimensional (3D) printing center at its main production plant Wolfsburg (Germany), VW said in a press release on 11 December. The center, with floor space of 3,100 square meters, will accommodate toolmakers, planners and research team members who will work closely on the development of new production and process. VW has established a new additive manufacturing unit at the center; the unit will have 11 jobs in future.
