German supplier IAV agrees to plead guilty in VW emission case in US
Company to pay USD35 million fine and serve two years of probation
Germany-based supplier IAV has agreed to plead guilty to one criminal felony count and pay a USD35 million criminal fine as a result of the company’s role in a long-running scheme for Volkswagen AG (VW) to sell diesel vehicles in the United States by using a defeat device to cheat on US vehicle emissions tests required by federal law, The United States Department of Justice said in a press release on 18 December. The company will serve two years of probation and be under the oversight of an independent monitor.
