STMicroelectronics unveils two new image sensors for driver monitoring system
The sensors enhance monitoring of vehicle occupants by capturing the scene as illuminated from the camera
STMicroelectronics has introduced two new automotive global shutter image sensors, the VG5661 and VG5761, for use in driver monitoring systems, the company said in a press release on 3 December. According to the company, unlike the rolling shutter, which continuously reads data directly from pixels one row at a time, global shutter captures the data at all pixels simultaneously. The image sensors enhance monitoring of vehicle occupants by capturing the scene as illuminated from the camera, eliminating unpredictable external effects such as sunlight or street lighting. The advanced image quality enhances the response of driver-monitoring systems, resulting in improved safety.
