AM General to take over production of Mercedes-Benz R-Class
The move is intended to free up capacity at Mercedes’ US facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Daimler made a surprise announcement today (27 January) that US-based commercial vehicle manufacturer AM General is to take over production of the Mercedes-Benz R-Class. AM General and Daimler have not confirmed the length of the contract-manufacturing deal or the volume involved, reports Automotive News, citing sources indicating production will be about 10,000 units per annum (upa).
