China imposes export controls on germanium and gallium chipmaking metals
Germanium is also produced in Russia, Belgium and Canada, whereas gallium is produced in Russia, Ukraine, Japan and South Korea
The Chinese government announced new limits on exports of two rare metals necessary to produce semiconductors and electric vehicles, according to a report published by Nexstar Media on July 3.
