Geely Auto to invest USD53 million to develop ‘healthy, intelligent vehicles’

Company’s R&D and design network will collaborate to develop new environmentally sustainable materials with anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties

Chinese automaker Geely Auto has set aside CNY370 million (USD52.8 million) to further development of healthier, intelligent vehicles, the company said in a press release last week. The company’s global research and development (R&D) and design networks based in China, Europe and the United States will collaborate to develop new environmentally sustainable materials with anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties which can be used within air-conditioning systems and on frequently touched surfaces such as buttons and handles.
