Automakers plan to form a JV to compete with mobility service players in China such as Didi Chuxing

Daimler is in talks with Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group to establish ride-hailing and car-sharing business in China, Bloomberg reported on 9 October citing people familiar with the matter. The two automakers are reportedly considering setting up a 50:50 joint-venture (JV) to offer new mobility services that will compete with services offered by the Chinese market leader Didi Chuxing. The discussion between the two companies haven’t yet finalized, according to the report.
