Nissan and Envision AESC’s plan to create an ecosystem around electric vehicle (EV) and battery production in the United Kingdom not only acknowledges the government’s plan to accelerate a complete shift to EVs from 2030, but also sets in motion a blueprint for much needed gigafactories to keep pace with the market demand

Unveiling its strategy to put the UK at the center of its electric vehicle (EV) game plan for Europe, Nissan, along with its battery partner Envision AESC, made a crucial announcement on 1 July to jointly invest GBP1 billion (USD1.37 billion) in the northeastern region to set up the country’s first EV ecosystem of such scale.
