New Mercedes-Benz S Class will have Level 3 automated driving capability next year
The flagship sedan will come equipped with an enhanced version of the DRIVE PILOT system, which will allow the car to drive in conditionally automated mode at speeds up to 37 mph (60 km/h)
The next-generation Mercedes-Benz S Class will have Level 3 automated driving capability in the second half of 2021, the German automaker announced while unveiling its flagship premium sedan last month. The flagship sedan will come equipped with an enhanced version of DRIVE PILOT system which will allow the car to drive in conditionally automated mode at speed up to 37 mph (60 km/h). The new DRIVE PILOT system employs lidar among a range of different sensors. The system allows the driver to go hands off for extended periods for high traffic density on suitable motorway section in Germany.
