Demand for compact lighting designs is providing design flexibility, and suppliers are working towards offering higher packing density compared to other traditional surface mount technologies

Since the introduction of LED technology, OEMs are standardizing LED lamps across major vehicle segments in order to improve efficiency and safety. Another area where LED technology is contributing is in brand perception by providing design flexibility. These days we can observe exterior lamps transforming from bulky designs to sleek designs across most trims, thanks to the miniaturization technology. In fact, automakers have changed their technical specification, which has compelled lighting manufacturers to invest in R&D to reduce the size and increase the performance of lighting systems, which has led to advances in LED chip technologies. In this article, we will discuss new design solutions offered by miniaturization of LED technology.
