BMW receives permit to test autonomous vehicles in China
First foreign automaker to receive license to test self-driving vehicles on public roads in the country
BMW has received permit to test autonomous vehicles in Shanghai, China, the German carmaker said in a press release on 16 May. The company will test its self-driving fleet, comprising modified BMW 7 Series sedans, at a 5.6 kilometer stretch of public roads in Shanghai’s Jiading district. The test fleet will initially have two vehicles, but will be expanded gradually to seven vehicles by the end of this year.
