Company to test Level 4 self-driving system on 420-mile stretch from San Diego, California to Tucson, Arizona

China-based self-driving truck start-up TuSimple, which also has headquarters in San Diego, California (United States), is the latest company to receive approval from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to test self-driving vehicles on the state’s public roads, according to a press release. The company’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based Level 4 autonomous driving system can tackle road conditions such as potholes, traffic and random human behaviors without any input from driver. TuSimple has planned a 420-miles test from San Diego in southern California to Tucson in Arizona at the end of this month to test its autonomous driving system.
