5GAA, BMW, Ford, PSA showcase C-V2X direct communication interoperability in Europe
The demonstration featured a live showcase of C-V2X direct communication between passenger cars, motorcycles and roadside infrastructure
5G Automotive Association (5GAA) along with BMW, Ford, PSA, Qualcomm and Savari held the first live demonstration of cellular-vehicle to everything (C-V2X) communication technology, operating across vehicles from multiple automakers, in Paris (France), 5GAA said in a press release on 11 July. The demonstration featured a live showcase of C-V2X direct communication between passenger cars, motorcycles and roadside infrastructure. The trial included included two-wheel scooter from BMW and passenger cars from BMW, Ford and PSA. These test vehicles were equipped with the 9150 C-V2X chipsets from Qualcomm. Savari provided V2X software stack and application software as well as roadside infrastructure for the trial.
