Automotive telematics revenue to reach USD4.2 billion globally in 2021
Demand for connectivity plus the roll-out of eCall SOS and accident notification services in Europe are set to drive the growth of automotive telematics systems. IHS forecasts global production of light vehicles equipped with telematics systems will grow from 23 million in 2014 to more than 50 million in 2021, with revenue growing to USD4.2 billion
An IHS Automotive study reveals that revenue from automotive telematics systems is likely to grow 19% annually to USD4.2 billion between 2015 and 2021. Today's telematics services have grown beyond the safety and security features that were the primary services offered by earlier systems.
