In early December 2017, General Motors (GM) announced the rollout of GM Marketplace, a platform to make reservations, order a coffee, or get a deal on an oil change—right from the headunit. Since the announcement, around 2 million 4G LTE—enabled Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles have received Marketplace by way of an over-the-air (OTA) update. GM claims that by 2019, over 4 million vehicles would be Marketplace-enabled. IHS Markit recently tested this feature on two vehicles, the 2018 Buick Enclave and the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse.
Unlike other Usability Reviews that IHS Markit has published, this will focus less on the individual vehicles and their respective human-machine interface (HMI) platforms. Instead, it will explore the Marketplace platform itself and all of the functionalities currently offered.
