Despite the 4C and 8C coming before it, the 2017 Giulia – for most Americans – signals the return of the Alfa Romeo brand to the US market, and WOW…what a comeback. We were lucky enough to schedule a 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio, which is Alfa Romeo’s response to the BMW M3, Audi S4, and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Even with the rather boring Vesuvio Gray Metallic paint job, there was more color and soul to this little Alfa Romeo sedan than nearly anything else we have driven.
The Giulia comes in a few different flavors, starting with the base model at $37,995. With a few popular options, it is easy to boost the Giulia base or Ti trims above $45,000. These vehicles all come with a 2.0L direct injection turbo inline 4-cylinder engine producing 280hp. The technology options include forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, an 8.8-inch center display with navigation, Bluetooth, and HD Radio (a 6.5-inch center display system in standard), and a 14-speaker, 900-watt harman/kardon premium audio system which creates a wonderful sound for several audio sources as well as providing a bit of additional artificial (but still enjoyable) Italian engine noise in the cabin.
