OEM-Level Display Systems Report

OEM-Level Display Systems Report

Publication Date: 25-Mar-2020

Several automakers have seen overall system cost, design, and flexibility gains in deploying modular infotainment systems. While the cost of a modular display does increase by a small amount over an integrated system, it allows for the display to sit atop the dashboard, create a tablet-like look and feel, and gives purchasing departments the option to source the display system from a different supplier than the infotainment supplier. Modular systems make up about 60% of the center stack display market, with that number expected to increase going forward.

Presently, user experience has become a major distinguishing point among automakers. As technology adoption has surged, design and implementation of infotainment, safety, and comfort systems have become paramount. Integration of the user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI) platform and deployment of advanced technology such as cutting-edge displays, virtual personal assistants, and gesture recognition, among others, will not only be the key to increased sales but also for future customer loyalty.

The IHS Automotive User Interface & Experience (UI/UX) Service provides insights, context, data, and analytics for the HMI and user experience technologies and best practices in HMI design and implementation.
