Material selection for battery pack tray and cover will become more critical as automakers look to make batteries safer and at the same time reduce weight of the battery pack.
The bid to make lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries more efficient and safer has been an ongoing process, with discussions mostly revolving around cell technology and chemistry advancements. As the traditional Li-ion cell chemistries approach the advancement ceiling, avenues other than the cell are being considered for increasing the safety and efficiency of batteries.
