Rio Tinto and BYD among firms advancing in Chile lithium project bid
Six companies, including Rio Tinto and BYD, qualify for the next phase of developing a lithium project in Chile, aiming at a public-private partnership by March 2025
Rio Tinto and BYD, along with four other companies, are qualified to advance their proposals for the development of a lithium project in Chile's Altoandinos salt flats, as communicated by ENAMI, the state-run mining entity. This initiative is part of the Chilean government's ambition to enhance lithium production in the Atacama region's northern salt flats through new ventures in collaboration with the state.
