Electra Battery Materials awarded $20 million from US Defense Department
Electra estimates that once fully commissioned, its Toronto-based facility will be able to produce 6,500 metric tons of cobalt per year
Electra Battery Materials Corp. announced Aug. 19 that it has been awarded $20 million by the US Defense Department to support the construction and commissioning of North America’s only cobalt sulfate refinery, capable of producing battery-grade materials for lithium-ion batteries.
