Efforts to establish global regulations for autonomous vehicles progress steadily amid safety concerns and high development costs

Concerns over safety and the considerable costs associated with the development of advanced systems have decelerated the progress on autonomous vehicles, yet the United Nations anticipates that internationally agreed regulations for their use could be established by mid-2026, as reported by AFP on June 27.
