INTERVIEW: Being asset light is a huge advantage for us, but also a challenge to scaling: StoreDot
StoreDot is at the forefront of developing a next-generation lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery that is expected to enable extreme fast charging. The Israel-headquartered startup is developing silicon-based Li-ion batteries that replace graphite from the anode. The company has partnered with some of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers and is already testing its cells with them. StoreDot is on the verge of demonstrating its technology in a production-bound EV model and is expecting commercialization within the next couple of years. Srikant Jayanthan of S&P Global Mobility spoke with Doron Myersdorf, CEO and co-founder of StoreDot, to understand more about the technology, StoreDot’s decade-long journey toward product launch, and the challenges it has faced and foresees.
