Aptiv has announced the discontinuation of capital support for Motional's robotaxi service commercialization set for 2024. Aptiv, involved in a $4 billion joint venture with Hyundai to establish Motional, made this announcement during its fourth-quarter earnings call, highlighting challenges related to the high costs involved, particularly in hardware development, hindering widespread adoption in the on-demand mobility market.
