Auto industry CEOs urge Congress to pass semiconductor funding in the US

The United States manufactured 40% of the world's semiconductors in 1990, but around 12% now

According to a report published by Alliance for Automotive Innovation on 22 June 2022, over 20 CEOs representing automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and innovators had urged for faster passage of a bipartisan bill, the CHIPS for America Act, that includes funding to increase domestic capacity and resilience of semiconductor supply chains that are "critical" to the future of the auto industry in the United States.
