Shared mobility impact on interiors in future
Despite the increasing penetration of ride-hailing services, there still exists a substantial challenge for interior suppliers to ensure the cabin is ready for multi-occupant usage
The automotive industry at present is on the verge of being transformed by a convergence of several disruptive technology-driven megatrends, out of which Shared Mobility remains one of the crucial ongoing trends. Its increasing adoption is gradually impacting the automotive industry, while in the near future – with the advent of autonomous vehicles – shared mobility is set to have a bigger impact. In terms of vehicle architecture, interior surface components are expected to undergo a major shift. This will be when cabin suppliers will be required to re-design the interiors, not just for a single owner, but catering also to a multiple-ownership-pattern. Interiors will then be able to not only withstand this ownership transformation, but also offer customization levels to suit the occupant’s needs.
