Sensor Integration in Exterior Components

Integrating several additional and new sensors into vehicles offers its unique set of challenges

The increasing amount of automating the driving task requires more information for the vehicle to process. The sensor content per vehicle has been steadily increasing over the years, and automated driving is expected to provide yet another boost to sensor content. A number of highly automated vehicles have been launched by both OEMs and mobility providers that feature “bolt on” sensor solutions. However, traditional automotive design calls for almost seamless integration of sensors into the vehicle’s’ exterior.
