Sumitomo Chemical exits LED materials JV in Korea to focus on battery separator
Move is part of company’s consolidation strategy
Japan-based Sumitomo Chemical has ceased production of sapphire wafers used in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) at its 50:50 joint venture (JV) with Samsung Electronics in South Korea, Nikkei Asian Review reported on 20 January.
