By concentrating on pick-up truck production, Thailand is satisfying local consumer preferences- and building an impressive base for exports to the rest of the world
The Thai automotive industry reached an important milestone in 2005 – production of over 1 million vehicles in one year. In terms of vehicle production, it could be said that Thailand has reached the government’s aim of making the country the so-called Detroit of Asia. It now ranks fifth in Asia behind Japan, China, South Korea and India and is globally ranked as the 15th largest car-producing nation.
