2024 HMI Consumer analysis - Which features are worth the money? Consumers weigh in on HMI tech

The 2024 Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Consumer Survey asked nearly 8,000 participants around the world questions regarding: in-vehicle HMI and overall user experience, to understand feature preferences, as well as their willingness to pay.
The desirability of in-vehicle features closely aligns with their actual experience. Results showed that touchscreens are the most experienced and desired features, likely due to their increasing popularity. Rearview camera display mirror emerged as the second-most desirable feature among the respondents, followed by navigation with intelligent routing platform in third place and wireless charging in fourth.
Passenger entertainment was the feature that most global respondents were more open to paying extra for, with rear-seat entertainment and front passenger display taking up the top two spots, respectively. However, like last year, branded audio system had the highest average price that respondents were willing to pay worldwide.

To understand consumer sentiment toward S&P Global Mobility forecast technologies, the Connected Car and Consumer Insights research teams conduct an annual consumer survey in key markets around the world.
