When COVID-19 arrived in early 2020 it made an impact around the world including the automotive semiconductor market. IHS Markit conducted a COVID-19 survey in April of semiconductor suppliers and found numerous unknowns and uncertainty which led to a heightened level of concern. At its worst those who recalled the financial crises feared a similar event. In July the survey was repeated, and the general outlook was more positive than in April. It now appears that recovery from COVID has already begun and unlike the financial crisis allocation is not a concern.
