Not long ago, automotive batteries were treated as the unwanted components in the vehicle by the automakers due to the extra weight they add to the vehicle. For a while now, carmakers were happy to use 12 volt batteries as a multi-purpose way of starting, lighting and ignition (SLI) in vehicles.
