The GXR by WeRide, boasting Level 4 autonomy and a luxurious design, sets new standards in robo-taxi comfort and safety

As reported on Oct. 15, WeRide has introduced the GXR, the most spacious production robo-taxi currently available. This new model capitalizes on WeRide's significant experience, exceeding 1,800 days of public robo-taxi operations, and incorporates advanced features from Farizon SuperVan's steer-by-wire (SBW) intelligent architecture. The GXR integrates WeRide's own Level 4 autonomous driving hardware and software, showcasing an open-concept design, the Sensor Suite 5.6, and the high-performance computing platform HPC 2.0, all aimed at enhancing the autonomous driving experience.

The GXR is designed with a robust redundancy system covering its architecture, chassis, computing units and braking systems to mitigate single-point failures and prioritize passenger safety. Its HPC 2.0 platform provides substantial AI computing power, supporting the vehicle's comprehensive computing needs and enabling it to navigate complex traffic conditions. The vehicle is equipped with Sensor Suite 5.6, which includes over 20 sensors for 360-degree perception and a 200-meter front detection, preparing it for various driving scenarios.

The interior of the GXR is notably spacious, with the elimination of the front passenger seat allowing for increased legroom in the second and third rows, providing passengers with unparalleled comfort. It also introduces a novel hidden B-pillar design for easier access and includes a specific area for carry-on luggage, improving convenience for passengers, particularly business travelers.

Safety features within the GXR include a cabin designed with soft edges for baby-level safety care and emergency provisions such as exit signage, a stop button and a safety hammer. WeRide ensures ease of access through the WeRide Go App, allowing passengers to easily call for a GXR Robotaxi for a variety of travel needs.
