Technology Trends

The IAA Transportation 2024 event, which took place from September 17 to 22 in Hanover, Germany, set the stage for the future of transport and commercial vehicles. With a spotlight on infrastructure and loading systems, this international event brought together leading original equipment manufacturers and suppliers, all united by a common goal: Zero-emission transportation. While electric commercial vehicles made their mark, it was the hydrogen-powered vehicles that truly stole the show, showcasing innovative solutions for a cleaner, more sustainable future in mobility. The event saw the display of both fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and a hydrogen (H2) internal combustion engine (ICE)-based heavy duty vehicles and related components.

HYVIA presented the hydrogen-powered Renault Master H2-Tech Prototype, featuring a 700 km range and a 5-minute refueling time. This prototype is designed to serve professionals with versatility in van, floor cab and chassis cab configurations. It includes an integrated hydrogen architecture, optimized energy efficiency and a new-generation fuel cell produced at HYVIA's Flins plant. The vehicle offers a choice of two H2 fuel tanks (7.5 or 9.0 kg) to accommodate different range requirements, supported by partners OPmobility and Forvia. It also features an integrated multimedia system for effective management of range and H2 consumption. Production is set to begin at Renault's Batilly, France, plant by the end of 2025, with sales and service provided by specialized H2-tech dealers. Additionally, HYVIA plans to enhance its hydrogen ecosystem with a network of H2 stations and carbon-free hydrogen supply solutions in collaboration with Plug and other partners.
