Lidar specialist Hesai Technology has announced a strategic cooperation framework with SAIC Volkswagen. This partnership will establish a new ecosystem for the automotive industry, leveraging Hesai's cutting-edge Lidar products and technology at its core.
SAIC Volkswagen, a joint venture between SAIC Group and Volkswagen Group, has been a key vehicle manufacturer in mainland China for more than 40 years since its inception in 1984. The JV sold 1.2 million cars in 2023.
Hesai is a key supplier of Lidar solutions for automotive and industrial applications. The company seamlessly integrates its in-house manufacturing process with Lidar research and development, and design, enabling faster product iteration while ensuring high performance, high quality and affordability. Hesai claimed to have received more than 500 patents globally, while more than 1,000 patent applications are still pending. Hesai has delivered 470,000 units of Lidar sensors to its customers in the first six months of 2024.
