According to a press release on Sept. 4, Cyngn, headquartered in California, US, announced the official issuance of a new patent, US Patent No. 12,032,099. This patent presents a method aimed at enhancing the accuracy of sensor data in autonomous vehicles by maintaining the integrity of the data as the vehicle moves.
The patented technology centers around the integration of advanced Lidar and image processing technologies to capture comprehensive environmental data. It then computes and compensates for any delays between the acquisition and processing of this data. A key feature of this method is its capability to dynamically generate a motion model that accounts for real-time sensor movements across various axes, facilitating precise predictions of future positions.
The innovation highlighted in this patent is significant as it improves the reliability and precision of sensor data in autonomous vehicles and robotics. This improvement is critical for ensuring these systems can operate with high accuracy in dynamic environments, thus enhancing safety, efficiency and enabling better-informed decision-making processes based on precise environmental data.
Lior Tal, the chairman and CEO of Cyngn, emphasized the patent's importance as a testament to Cyngn's dedication to developing advanced autonomous vehicle technologies. He noted that this patent, being the 20th US patent granted to the company, demonstrates Cyngn's ongoing effort to expand its patent portfolio to protect its intellectual property. This achievement builds upon the success of the previous 16 US patents granted to the company in 2023 and follows the recent announcement of the issuance of Patent 19.
