Swiss Post and Fenaco Cooperative plan to enter into an equal partnership, forming a joint venture company named PowerUp, with a focus on EV charging services, the two companies announced Sept. 3.
As per the initial plans, PowerUp, which will be set up with a goal of offering a nationwide EV fast charging network across Switzerland, will build a network of EV charging stations across 50 locations. EV charging service across these 50 locations will be available to customers from mid-2025. The two companies plan to further expand the EV charging network to 1,500 charging points spread across 300 locations across the country by 2030. The planned EV charging stations will be located at Swiss Post branches, Agrola petrol stations and Landi stores, as well as other sites, it said.
Interestingly, the two companies are planning to set up these EV charging stations in close proximity to workplaces, shopping facilities and other frequently visited destinations.
Furthermore, PowerUp aims to use Swiss electricity generated from renewable energy sources to charge EVs, a move that is aligned with the country’s electrification roadmap.
Notably, the founding of the JV company PowerUp still has to be approved by the competition authorities, the companies said in the press note.
