According to a report published by TechCrunch on Aug. 29, UK-based autonomous vehicle startup Wayve has enhanced its previously announced $1.05 billion Series C funding. This collaboration aims to integrate Wayve’s self-learning AI technology into consumer vehicles, potentially operating on Uber's platform in the future.

This partnership follows Uber’s announcement of Cruise’s robo-taxis joining its app in 2025, marking another step in Uber's autonomous driving initiatives. Wayve, founded in 2017, has attracted over $1.3 billion from notable investors like SoftBank and Nvidia. The startup focuses on a unique AI system that operates without lidar, instead utilizing cameras and radar.

Wayve CEO Alex Kendall emphasized that this alliance will enhance the safety and readiness of their autonomous technology for global deployment. Uber's CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, praised Wayve's innovative approach, underscoring their shared vision for a future of electric and autonomous vehicles .
