BMW of North America has initiated a recall for over 390,000 vehicles in the US owing to a potentially dangerous issue with airbag inflators that could explode, posing a serious risk of injury or death. The recall includes certain model year 2006–11 3-Series sedan, 2006–13 3-Series Sportwagon and 2009–13 3-Series sedan vehicles.
