A heads-up on the automotive head-up display (HUD) market
Although still at a concept stage, the cost-efficient panoramic HUDs have the potential to eventually replace the current generation of digital instrument clusters or even regular HUDs since they do not have mirrors or other optical hardware.
HUDs are increasingly being touted as replacements for the instrument cluster and passenger display besides expanding and supplementing the center-display content, particularly for luxury nameplates. HUDs also have high stakes in addressing driver distraction issues, prompting more automotive original equipment manufacturers to incorporate HUDs into their lineups to comply with safety regulations.
