Renault Group recently announced its future autonomous driving strategy, partnering with WeRide to explore low-carbon public transit. The collaboration aims to launch an autonomous shuttle service during the 2024 French Open, providing transportation between event venues and parking lots, as reported in a press release on May 15.
Renault Group has been closely monitoring the European public transportation market and recognizes the potential of autonomous driving technology in this sector. The company is actively driving the adoption of low-carbon, green and driverless strategies in European public transportation and is also a strategic investor in WeRide.
WeRide holds autonomous driving licenses in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore simultaneously. WeRide has conducted autonomous driving research, testing and operations in 30 cities across 7 countries, offering various high-quality services including ride-hailing, on-demand public transport, intra-city freight, smart sanitation and advanced driving solutions.
In the future, both sides will continue to strengthen cooperation, expand scope of collaboration, and strive to introduce validated and mature autonomous driving products and business models to the European market.
