ETAS GmbH and BlackBerry QNX have signed a partnership to sell and market software solutions to automakers and their suppliers, simplifying the development of safety-critical functions for software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The partnership combines ETAS' middleware RTA-VRTE based on AUTOSAR Adaptive and QNX® Operating System with ETAS' automotive firewall and host-based intrusion detection technology.

This integrated solution provides a high-performance and safe foundation for the development of microprocessor-based vehicle computer domain controller electronic control units (ECUs). The collaboration aims to accelerate the support for rapid technology change in the automotive industry and facilitate the adoption of emerging technologies.

According to Mariella Minutolo, executive vice president sales and member of the ETAS Board of Management, this collaboration continues the journey to create the leading microprocessor-based automotive software integrated solution supporting the AUTOSAR Adaptive standard.

Grant Courville, vice president, products & strategy at BlackBerry QNX, added that optimized software and technology integration backed by trusted and established ecosystem suppliers are critical to the long-term success of next-generation connected vehicles.
