The company, based in Graz, holds two-thirds of the patents filed in 2023, with a significant portion of the applications related to fuel cell and electrolysis innovations.
AVL's patent applications in 2023 increased by over 11% compared with the previous year, with a focus on electrification, battery, e-axle and e-drive technologies.
According to Helmut List, chairman and CEO of AVL, the company's innovative strength lies in its employees, who are constantly developing new and sustainable innovations for climate-neutral mobility. AVL takes an open-source approach to technology, utilizing all available solutions to reduce CO2 emissions efficiently. The company has invested over 10% of its turnover in research in 2023.
