Automakers have relied heavily on seat belts and airbags to ensure the safety of occupants in their vehicles for years. Seatbelts and airbags — generally referred as passive safety systems — act as a primary restrain system (PRS) and a secondary restraint system (SRS), respectively. Together, they have been proven critical in saving lives and mitigating injuries in high-impact collisions around the world.
