Nissan has made changes to the engine’s main bearings and L-links to address potential engine damage, but a recall has not been issued.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s US Office of Defect Investigation has begun a preliminary investigation into approximately 450,000 Nissan Rogue (model years 2021-2023), Altima (MY2019-2021), and Infiniti Qx50 vehicles (MY2019-2021) due to reports of engine failures, loss of power, engine knocking noises, metal chunks and shavings found in the oil pans of cars equipped with the KR15DDT and KR20DDET engines.
