INTERVIEW: Urbix on graphite and other promising anode technologies
Urbix explains the significance of graphite as a crucial material in driving the energy transition.
Graphite has been traditionally used in the automotive sector for brake linings and clutch materials. However, its significance has been increasing due to its crucial role in electric vehicle batteries. Graphite serves as the anode material in these batteries, and there are no viable alternatives. The rising popularity of hybrid and all-electric vehicles, along with grid storage systems, has triggered a surge in demand and generated new business for Urbix, a graphite processor, says it is helping the US car industry establish a stable, local supply chain for this critical battery mineral thereby reducing its reliance on China. It is also making inroads into Europe. To learn more, we spoke to Nico Cuevas, CEO of Urbix.
