The future of autonomous mobility as a service
Autonomous vehicle companies are working to address the investor slowdown and instill confidence in the industry by focusing on nearer-term deployment of their technology, especially in commercial applications
The world of autonomous vehicles has been evolving rapidly in the past few years. Many companies have been investing heavily in research and development to create autonomous vehicles that can operate safely on the road without human intervention. Recent trends, however, have revealed a significant reduction in spending on driverless vehicles and a subsequent slowdown in autonomous vehicle investments. The slowdown could also affect the deployment timelines, leading to pushing autonomous vehicle deployment further into the future. There are multiple factors that have contributed to this trend, from autonomous vehicle companies failing to gain public perception and trust to being unable to build a sustainable business model to continue autonomous vehicle endeavours.
