Electrified vehicle segment moving to more advanced Silicon Carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) technology for DC/DC converters
SiC DC/DC converters will be the most used converters in pure electric vehicles (PEVs) before the end of the decade, overtaking silicon-based metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs).
Batteries and motors are the two main components that come to mind when we think of performance and efficiency in an electrified vehicle. However, power electronics equipped in a vehicle play an equally important role in determining these two attributes of the vehicles.
